методология применения знаний конкретной предметной области для создания новых программных систем; ключевая концепция для обеспечения возможности систематического повторного использования ПО (software reuse). Процесс идентификации предметных областей, определения их границ, выявления общностей и различий между системами конкретной предметной области называется анализом [ПО] предметной области (domain analysis). Результатом подобного анализа являются модели, на основе которых можно эффективно и экономично создавать новые системы и приложения этой предметной области.
